In alignment with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s guidance, the State of Hawaii Military and Community Relations Office (MACRO) remains committed to executing our vision and mission to support the Department of Defense’s objectives. Secretary Hegseth has emphasized the importance of achieving “Peace through Strength.”
1. Maintaining readiness necessitates support from the communities in which our service members reside. MACRO is dedicated to fostering a strong sense of unity and shared purpose among our military personnel and the local community. To achieve this, we will support initiatives that build community trust in the military presence in Hawaii. By promoting trust and collaboration, we aim to strengthen the bond between the military and the community, reinforcing our collective commitment to defending our nation.
2. MACRO will collaborate with local industries and educational institutions in Hawaii to sustain and enhance existing positive relationships. We will promote and facilitate partnerships aimed at fostering innovation and the swift deployment of new technologies, leveraging local expertise and resources. Hawaii plays a critical role in maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and local industries are essential for building a robust military presence here in Hawaii.
3. A strong deterrence in the Indo-Pacific requires adequate training facilities. Military training lands in Hawaii are essential to ensure our military is prepared and capable of establishing a strong deterrence. These training areas are also vital for conducting exercises with our allies and partners. MACRO will work with our military leaders and community to address community concerns related to military training lands in Hawaii. By doing so, MACRO will contribute to deterring aggression and ensuring the defense of our homeland.
